The Poison sky

Episode Location: Earth, London
Aliens/Enemies:
The Sontarans
New Characters: Martha Jones, Colonel Mace, Wilf, Sylvia
Gadgets Used: Sontaran lazers, teleport disks, sonic screwdriver, mobile phone, mallet
Episode Objective: To stop the Sontaran invasion of Earth

NOTE: I have serious doubts about the plot layout that I've made... I think there will be more coming and going off large, menacing looking spaceships. But I suppose we shall see!

As ATMOS machines continue to spew forth gas from vehicles all over Earth - enough to choke humanity - while the orbiting Sontarans prepare to invade and wage war. Now, the Doctor is already suspicious of the Martha clone - but can he save her, the rest of the world and himself, too? The fight it on, but Sontarans like fighting...

So, due to copious amounts of poisonous gas, not to mention the large Sontaran spaceship that is descending down to Earth, the world is on red alert and rather panicked.

So, once dear Wilf has been saved and the family is all right, the Doctor and Donna head off back to UNIT from the looks of things and the Doctor gives Donna a present!

Donna: God, the airs disgusting.
Doctor: Its not so bad for me - go on, get inside the TARDIS-
(holds out key)
Oh. Never given you a key. Keep that, go on. Thats yours. Quite a big moment really.
Donna: Yeah, maybe we can get sentimental after the worlds finished chocking to death.

But it appears she does get sentimental. Perhaps after the Doctor leaves her to give himself up to the Sontarans, or some such sacrifice.

But no... she's not really that safe since, soon after that, the Sontarans decide to beam up the wee blue box and claim it as their own (with poor Donna trapped inside!)

So now we have Donna sneaking about in a spaceship full of mindless killers... which can't really be that much fun. And she has no way of getting back.

And, according to those lucky enough to have already seen it, "There's only one person who can save the day. After helping the Doctor over the last few episodes, Donna gets the chance to see if she can do things on her own... But is she up to it?"

Perhaps those driving lessons will be put to good use?

Anyway, Earth, danger, red alert, nuclear strike... panic!

Well, Luke's clearly not... in fact, he seems quite excited about it all: "Oh man, this is war!"
And it really is as the Sontarans attack, and UNIT fights back.

And unfortunately, the Martha clone is still about, still wreaking havoc, and still fooling the Doctor as he realizes: "They need this gas for something else..."

So what is she planning on doing with our dear Time Lord?

But its okay, since the Doctor (being very clever and all that) is quickly onto the Clone. Surely she'll have a strange mark in the back of her neck where the umbilical chord was? And surely if its a clone then it wont have Martha's wedding ring?

And then off he pops to go find the real Martha and do a good old rescue!

Bless

So, Luke Rattigan: we know is a little misunderstood, and also working with the Sontarans in a a plot to destroy the word... but why is he here with the Doctor, Donna and Martha?

Well, since its the real Martha, after being saved and whatnot... maybe Luke has changed his ways and decided to help?

Then again... maybe not:

"Its time people, this is what our work has been for!"

And the Doctor meets up with the dear Colonel again, although he doesn't really seem to get on with him. Maybe since he's just ordered a nuclear bomb to be fired.

The Doctor: Whatever you do, Colonel Mace, do not engage the Sontarans in battle. There's nothing they like better then war! Leave this to me...

"All troupes, code red"

"Get them out of there!"

Speculation
These are from Digital Spy, and two of them are red- herrings:
  • Donna's mother Sylvia wields an axe.
  • A jellyfish-like Rutan army makes an appearance (via a Sontaran flashback).
  • The Sontarans steal the TARDIS.
  • UNIT prepare to launch a nuclear strike.
  • Donna kills a Sontaran via the probic vent and booms out "back of the neck!"
  • The Valiant is put to good use by Colonel Mace.
  • The current whereabouts (and official title) of Alastair Lethbridge-Stewart are revealed.
  • Donna punches the real Martha in the face - believing her to be the clone.
  • Luke has devised a mating programme for his genius recruits.
  • The Doctor puts on a gas mask to combat the poisonous sky and squeals "are you my mummy?"
And these quotes also appear at some point in the episode. Wonder what the missing words are?!

"She's not like you. She's not a *******." (Soldier?)
"My God, they're like trolls."
"I've designed a ****** program." (Mating?)
"The bravery of idiots is bravery nonetheless."
"Isolate them as they perish."
"Are you my *****?" (Mummy?)
"We've lost our target practice."
