The Doctor Fact File
The Doctor is the last of the Time Lords, an ancient civilization who were destroyed in the last great Time War. He is over nine-hundred years old and travels through time and space in his TARDIS, a transcendental time machine. He is most well-known throughout the universe for saving countless planets and species from danger, and has gained an expansive knowledge of the universe through doing this. Prior to the death of his people, the Doctor had a human mother and a Gallifreyan father. This left him with an affinity with the human race, but a Gallifreyan organic structure. He has the ability to regenerate, a Time Lord trait which means that upon death he can completely change his cellular structure, giving himself a new face and body, and often a different personality, but retaining the few things that make him the Doctor. His is currently in his tenth incarnation, a cheeky, often rude, but very lovable 6” tall humanoid with ‘big’ brown hair and a mole in between his shoulder blades.
As a Time Lord he is gifted with acute hearing, super-strength, a cardio-vascular system (otherwise known as having two hearts) and a respiratory bypass system, meaning he can go for short periods of time without oxygen.
Despite how alien he is, the Doctor still feels affection and love, just like any other creature in the universe (except perhaps the Daleks). One of his most recent companions, Rose Tyler, captured his attention more than most. They both fell in love with each other, although the Doctor never admitted this to her. They were separated when Rose was pulled into a parallel universe. The Doctor burnt up a sun to say goodbye to her one last time. Rose admitted her feelings to the Doctor, and just as he was about to reciprocate the gesture, he ran out of time and the projection faded away.
Immediately after saying goodbye to Rose, the Doctor was swept up into a new mystery with feisty bride Donna Noble. He saved the world and Donna from the Empress of the Racnoss. But when he invited Donna to travel with him through time and space, she declined, although she did ask him to find someone.
The Doctor did just this when he stumbled across the Royal Hope Hospital, a hospital harbouring a deadly Plasmavore. The inter-planetary thugs, the Judoon, transported the hospital to the moon so that they could seek out the Plasmavore. It was here that he met medical student, Martha Jones. They saved the hospital together by finding the Plasmavore and showing her to the Judoon. Martha saved the Doctor’s life and in return he offered her a trip in the TARDIS, taking her back to 1599. This one trip soon grew into many. Their travelling together came to an end when, after saving the universe from the Master, Martha decided to stay home and be with her family.
